Notes
- Abstract:
- The old stone building (foreground) with Scandinavian roof styling, stands between the "Continental Building" (which still stands), and the one-storied early post office. The Model T Fords were brought to the island when President Herbert Hoover visited the Virgin Islands in the 1930s, and were subsequently used as taxis mainly by the American administrators. The Hotel 1829 is perched at the end of the street. Just beyond the "Continental Shop" sign, is a group of women huddling around an early transportation vehicle, a prototype of a present-day bus.
